Because I'm a moron and didn't put it here the first time like you asked me to:

I'm not completely canonblind on Ryan, but if you wanted a suggestion on how to make him less utterly miserable and focused on suicide, here's what I thought of...

Maybe not get him stuck in so many of the victim roles in EV? Like have him be a rescuer for a while. I'm sure that would be helpful to boost his confidence and make him not feel so much like everything is spiraling out of control. When a write-up comes around, look for people who've not been plotted with, and see if their character is going to need help not dying. If Ryan can help save a life, it would be a huge confidence booster.

Hopefully that's the kind of info that might help.
