□ History: Here you go!

□ Personality:

Ryan is a very, very interesting character.

One thing that really stands out with Ryan is that he's extremely introverted. Even though he lives in a rather nice community in Los Angeles, of all places, he's seen as being a very secluded individual, and a loner. It's gotten to the point where if someone pulls off some kind of prank or crime in the neighborhood, and nobody's sure sure of who did it or why, they turn to him because they simply know nothing about him. He's been known to spend long durations in his house by himself, though doing what, nobody knows. (smoking pot with wilfred. masturbating. watching matt damon dvd's.)

Along with being introverted, he's also very awkward- it's a word Ryan even used to describe himself. The worst instances seem to happen to him at the worst time. It's hard for him to use his words, and there's more than a few points in time where things don't exactly come out as they mean to. It's kind of sad, since his own words end up digging him into a hole, or an unfortunate situation. He's awkward to the point where it's almost comical, or it even makes you feel embarrassed just by being a spectator. Ryan never goes out of his way to find those unfortunate moments. They just come to him instead.

Part of his awkwardness might come from him not really taking care of himself, or being completely aware of who or what is in his surroundings. If he accidentally gets jizzed on by Wilfred, he might not wash it off if he's distracted or hurried. If he's talking about something to Wilfred in public, he might get weird stares. Through the show, Ryan struggled to listen to real people and Wilfred, who was a figment of his imagination. Wilfred would do odd things to catch his attention, and Ryan had to pretend to ignore it all the while. Sometimes he couldn't help but react, leaving the other person confused and probably a little nervous.

Ryan's also known to be a 'yes man'. He's easy to persuade if he's put under the right amount of pressure, even if whatever he agrees to can be somewhat of an inconvenience to him. Under this pressure, Ryan does things for the best interests of others (which usually comes after a long chat with Wilfred, or when he's put in a situation that's kind of an eye-opener for him), but there are many times where he'll try and make things go another way for his benefit. Fair enough, many of these times he's either egged on by Wilfred, or even set up into them against his will. And majority of the time they come with major consequences, which makes him learn from the experience or regret them.

Along with being the awkward introvert, he's nervous, and can be become anxious over hardly anything. There are many things from his past that can help with this: like, for example, his sister would tell him to stop crying in order to avoid his mother and father from fighting when he was younger, so whenever he would hear his sister telling someone else to stop crying, he would break down into a panic attack. And when or if his mother or adopted father are brought into discussion, he tries his best to avoid the subject. Even if it's not related to his past and more towards his awkwardness, his nervous will sometimes hold him back. And that's usually when Wilfred hops in, and tries to prevent this.

As the show went on, Ryan opened up more about his father. But he feels a great amount of guilt. For years he always thought of his dad as a rather bad person, who wanted Ryan to follow in his footsteps or he was damned if he didn't. At the end of the show, it turns out that his father had been looking out for him for as long as he could. Having so much resettlement towards him in the past, and not apologizing to his father before he passed is something that constantly nags at him.

When it comes to personal details, Ryan tries to change the subject, or avoid answering in any way he can. If the topic becomes a little too personal, he becomes rather nervous, and snaps at others when they dive too deep. He had much animosity for his adopted father, until the end of the series. While he thought his father was mean and cruel for locking his mother away in a mental institution for years and years and not caring, he learned that his father actually cared for her a lot. And while he thought his father was keeping him under his belt because he was manipulative, it was because his father cared for Ryan, and he didn't want him to follow in his mother's footsteps. If anything, Ryan learns at the very end that his biological father had been the cult of the dog-god followers, and who was as mentally ill as his mother. To keep Ryan safe, Henry Newman adopted Ryan into his family to avoid any troubles. Henry hadn't been a biological dad after all.

As funny as he may seem to be, and as smart as he is, Ryan has many problems. His problems range from dealing with his illness (which could be classified as schizophrenia, if you wanted to get all scientific) to constantly worrying about his sanity or his unemployment. It grows worse if he has stress with work (or lack of most of the time), or with his relationships, or if he's in a sour mood altogether. Instead of finding ways to care for himself and cheer up, Ryan usually spends his time down in the basement smoking pot.

Ryan's depression has gotten to the point where he felt like he had nothing left. The show's first episode featured Ryan making himself a drug cocktail in an attempt to kill himself. Little did he know the pills he thought he was taking for his depression were actually sugar pills. So instead of suffering a drug overdose, Ryan only went through a rather extreme sugar high. It seems that suicide was on his mind for quite a while- he had everything planned to the wire. He had revised his suicide note at least four times, cleaned his house from top to bottom, and prepared to pass wearing a suit and tie.

He feels rather misunderstood. In his suicide note, he called himself 'a diamond in the rough' and 'a caged bird waiting to be free'. Happiness is something Ryan strives for, but it comes very hard for him, and it always seems just out of his reach. With Wilfred's help, it seemed a little closer than usual, but he has to work hard for it, and it may not come when he would like it to.

His behaviors have a lot to do with his past. There aren't too many details (a lot of the show seems to depend on what the viewer thinks, rather than backing things up with hard facts), but there are many things that has happened to him before that can be accountable. A lot of things are triggers- it could be events with his sister or his parents that deeply affects how he feels about himself and bad times past, and even reflect into the now. Though despite all that had happened, it's something he's trying to forgive and forget. Especially with the death of his father being so recent, and discovering more about himself.

Wilfred tends to stick Ryan into situations where he'll need to take extremes to get out of. Usually it leads to harming himself somehow, or others. But there's always something out of it. Either Ryan will learn a little more about himself, or about Wilfred, or a lesson for the future.

Speaking of Wilfred...

Reality is questionable for him. After his attempt to kill himself, Ryan sees a seven year-old dog as a middle-aged man in a cheap dog costume. This is the only way he can see Wilfred, even though everyone else sees him for what he really is. There have been other times where something occurs to Ryan, though not for everybody else- for example, earthquakes and a man who knows Ryan, yet Ryan doesn't know him. He would even imagine himself in a mental clinic when he dreamed, and when he dreamed of himself escaping, it was like he saw the world new again. As the series progresses, Ryan frets more and more over his sanity, even looking into a cult made by a mentally ill man made of entirely fictional deities. He thought that the cult and their religion could maybe bring him some understanding, or he could be a 'prophet child' who was to be followed by a god in a dog suit to bring happiness. But, of course, this wasn't the case.

Through certain events while Wilfred was around, Ryan also questioned his loyalty. He grew angry with Wilfred over manipulating him, and about his intentions being more wilfred-based than ryan-based. Ryan also becomes angry with himself over scenarios like this. He often think of himself negatively when following Wilfred blindly, when he should have known better.

Despite everything Wilfred has done to him, Ryan depends on him a lot. He looks to Wilfred a lot for guidance and answers, and even good company. Not having Wilfred around is like having a big hole inside of him, unless he has a clear idea of where he is. Ryan loves him, and if he's put into any danger or harm, Ryan tries his hardest to stop it, or becomes enraged if worse comes to worse.

An actual diagnosis for his mental illness was never really confirmed in words. It is true, however, that Wilfred was a figment of his imagination. Wilfred was nothing more than a regular dog, who Ryan reacted...rather strangely to. Most likely he suffers from schizophrenia, considering symptoms he's had through the show.

In the end of the show, Wilfred continued to be around Ryan, despite the dog dying. But since Ryan knows that Wilfred is all in his head, he can have moments to himself until he wants to see him again. Wilfred will always be the symbol of happiness in this TV show, even when the dog himself has passed.

Ryan wants nothing more to be comfortable with himself, and to be happy. It's something he struggles to strive for, but with Wilfred's help, it can be reached.

□ Age: 32
□ Gender: Male
□ Appearance:

Ryan stands about 5"6. He's not exactly skin and bone, but there doesn't look like there's much fat on him, either. Although he's seen being somewhat active and jogging, Ryan doesn't really have any muscle to his name either and is actually pretty pale. In more ways than one, he is the exact replica of that weird skinny kid who basically bleeds awkwardness.

His hair is short, and brown. Unless he's having a bad day, Ryan keeps it pretty well cut and groomed. When he doesn't bother to comb it, you can see little curls that stick out every now and then. Occasionally he has a little bit of stubble that grows around his face.

Ryan keeps himself well dressed, too. He'll often wear dress shirts or a nice looking shirt in public, with a pair of gray Converse shoes and jeans that pull up to his waist. Ryan will usually keep his shirts tucked in. If his pants are a little too long, he'll roll them up so they don't track any dirt, or rip after wear. If he's going to work or going out on a date, he will wear a suit and tie with some dress shoes. Ryan may be sick, but he certainly doesn't dress like he is.

If he's at home, he'll usually roam around in something more casual. Casual sometimes meaning boxers and a tank shirt, or PJ's.

Ryan looks 100% like a normal human being...because he is one! One of the more noticeable traits are his big blue eyes.

□ Abilities/Powers: Ryan is completely human from top to bottom! The only thing that will make him stand out more than anyone else is that the fact that he's mentally sick. Like really sick.
□ Personal Items: A tennis ball. That's all!

□ First Person Sample:

[ A rather pale character appears on the feed for the first time today!

Ryan tries really hard not to make himself known like this. Meeting people face to face can sometimes be hard enough, let alone broadcasting yourself to who knows how many people. But this is a dire situation. Not only does he have no idea where he is, but Wilfred has gone missing. This is a very bad thing, since Wilfred has a severe case of cancer and is in the process of dying. The last thing he needs is to be here right now. Wilfred-less. ]

M-My name is Ryan Newman. I'm looking for my dog. [ Technically, Wilfred isn't his dog. But he's been around him for so long, why not own him? ] He's a gray mutt. Middle aged. [ Middle aged? A dog? ] I really, really need him right now. He's dying of cancer, and I can't find him anywhere!

[ There's no way Ryan can hold back his panic, but he holds back tears. He could see Wilfred calling him a total pansy bitch right now, but that's what's bugging him. There's nobody dressed in a dog suit to call him just that. ] Please. If you find him, just let me know. I can't do this without him. I can't...

[ What he means by "can't", that's for you to figure out. ]

Just...message me however you can. [ He droops his head, and the video ends. ]

□ Third Person Smut Sample:

50% off, they said. Ryan would be lying rotten if he said he wasn't interested, but he couldn't do this. Not here. Not in the privacy of his bedroom, or at least his basement. Or his shower. Somewhere that wasn't here.

The fleshlight looked oddly familiar; with the mouth came a set of teeth, shaped oddly like a vampire's. It reminded him a little too much of the toy Wilfred brought for him, setting him up for some kind of public humiliation. The last thing Ryan remembered about this toy was his sister pulling it out of the couch cushions Wilfred had hid it, and the look on her face that came afterwards. Nope. Automatic boner kill.

Yet somehow, Ryan found himself heading for a private room, fleshlight and lube in hand. It was small, but packed with everything- porn magazines, a TV with rows of DVD's that held any kind of erotic video that your heart desired. Sitting against the wall was an elongated chair, with a fancy little headrest. Jesus Christ, you could jack off in style here.

Ryan sighed, looking at the lubricant in his hand. Special arousing lotion, huh? If it could wipe the image of Kristen's disgust out of his mind, why the fuck not?

He tossed the fleshlight onto the bed, before unbuckling his pants and unbuttoning his shirt. Ryan stood there butt naked, surrounded by pictures of naked women and a TV that was now showing some kind of horrible porn.

He padded to the chair, squirting some of the lube onto his hand. Rubbing the stuff onto his flaccid cock, he sat and waited, watching a man furiously pounding into a woman. Boring stuff. Too overreactive.

A nice, cool sensation started to burn on his skin. Ryan hummed at the pleasurable feeling, his member starting to harden. He leaned back against the chair, watching as his cock started to grow, twitching up and against his leg. He took it gently in his grasp, moving his hand in a slow, teasing rhythm.

It had been forever since he did something like this. His hips lazily bucked upwards as he stroked himself, biting down on his lip to keep from moaning. Pleasure was starting to burn in his belly, a feeling that he hasn't felt in forever. Sure, he jacked off here and there (a lot of the time, actually), but he never felt anything like this. Pure lust, greedy pleasure. Ryan's cock was hard and standing at attention in no time.

His eyes slipped shut as he moved his hand a little slower around his cock. His fingers brushed past burning skin, skimming the underside of his length. His eyes opened as he rubbed the head, red and swollen. Ryan couldn't help but moan as he rubs over the slit. He lets go, and his cock twitches.

It's so damn hot in here. The memories from before vanish as Ryan snatches up the fleshlight, and lets it sink over the rip. "H-hh!"

The pleasure is amazing. Soft ridges and a wonderful tightness close against his cock, and Ryan can't help but moan, languid but loud. The pleasure burning in his belly has turned into a fire, spreading from the tips of his fingers down to his toes. As much as he wants to, Ryan doesn't sink the fleshlight on all at once. He teases himself, gently inching it down onto his length.

He starts to move his hand, moaning as the fleshlight moves against his skin, pulling gently upwards on his hard cock. The soft, vampire teeth graze gently across as he moves, making him squirm. Ryan hasn't felt this great in ages. "Nnnnh." He's hard, holy fuck he's hard.

His hand is soon flying, his hips rocking and bucking against the toy. The hand that's not wrapped around the fleshlight travels down his stomach, cradling his sack. Ryan plays with his balls, and his back arches off of the chair.

Ryan is a panting mess, lost in a sea of pleasure that is well needed. He twitches, moans as the pleasure continues to mount. "F-fuck." He twists it around, and his hips shoot forward. "F-fuck yeah. Unnh, god. Fuck yeah..."

He feels himself being enveloped in heat as his orgasm approaches. Ryan moans steadily turn into whimpers as he grows closer, and the pleasure breaks a point. He can feel his cock grow stiff inside of the fleshlight, his balls spasm in his hand. Waves of pleasure wrack Ryan's body as he curls in on himself just slightly, hips bucking forward with every pulse. Every nerve is alive, riding on this orgasm that is so absolutely mind-blowing he hardly knows what to do with himself.

And just like that, it's over.

Ryan tries to act nonchalant as he exits the room, with a free gift in his hand. After the pleasure faded, reality set into place as he commented with a blantent, "It's okay, I guess." The grin on the owner's face told Ryan that they knew a lot more than they were letting on.
